Richard Thompson – Lawyer & Principal
Richard commenced his career with the Victorian Employers’ Federation (now VECCI) from 1989 to 1994 as Senior Industrial Relations Advisor responsible for Local Government, Public Utilities, Health, Community Services and Education industry sectors. After completing his law degree he worked at Telstra Applied Technologies as Corporate & Commercial Lawyer in the Major Procurement and Infrastructure Division. He joined Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper) and then Minter Ellison as a lawyer before being admitted to the Victorian Bar in 1999. After his time as a barrister he joined Lander & Rogers as Senior Associate before being made a partner and then Managing Partner (Vic.) at Norton White, a specialist shipping and aviation firm. Richard was Head of Employment & Workplace Relations (Corporate & Commercial) at Wisewould Mahony before starting Archer Thompson.
He has a Graduate Diploma Labour Law (University of Melbourne), Graduate Diploma Legal Practice (College of Law, Sydney), LLB (Bond University), International Trade Law (Leiden University, The Netherlands).
Julian Gillard – Senior Associate
Julian previously worked within the commercial litigation and employment teams at a highly regarded boutique commercial law firm in Melbourne. He has experience in a broad range of matters including general commercial contractual disputes, consumer law disputes, disputes concerning alleged breach of trustee and director’s duties, unfair dismissal and adverse action claims, claims concerning employee entitlements and restraint of trade matters.
